Opportunities for professional audio engineers are wide ranging. From mixing live audio in music venues to working in the radio and television industry to recording music in the studio. Successful audio engineers posses patience, an attention to detail, project management skills and above all a passion for music. Our course work will primarily utilize the DAW Pro Tools HD. Over the span of three quarters students will be subjected to a wide range of production experiences to prepare them for working as a professional in the music industry. Course experiences range in musical genres, recording locations and project complexity. Students will be given a deep understanding of the complex applications that are the fundamental component of modern recording techniques.
Experiences will include multi-track location recording of choral, jazz and rock, numerous studio recording ranging from individual singer song-writers and hip-hop artists to five member rock groups. A variety of recording techniques will be implemented from live room recordings to isolated room tracking. Studies will focus on developing intelligent and efficient systems and techniques to guide them through the complexities of audio engineering.
Upon completion, students will gain a deep understanding of audio engineering. Students will have the self-confidence to record professionally. Ultimately students will gain invaluable skills that will carry over to other aspects of their life including problem solving, project management and self-confidence.
